-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Sub: UGC is now on eWorld!
-
- User Group Connection area now active on eWorld
-
- eWorld is Apple's new graphical-interface online service, due for public
- release very soon! We're sending this note to all groups because many MUGs are
- eWorld beta testers, and because we have some very exciting news.
-
- eWorld beta testers: Take another look! The User Group Connection has set up an
- area on eWorld for user group info, discussions, chats and interaction. Groups
- can even qualify for their own forums in our area (to serve their current
- members and attract new ones), and reserve our conference room for online
- meetings. This will be the place where User Group Connection information such
- as vendor discounts and purchase program information appears first, and the
- best way to reach the UGC staff quickly. The service will also be a good source
- for Apple and third-party information.
-
- So use the Go to shortcut command, and enter: User Groups. Or visit the
- Computer Center building, use the arrow to get to the Getting the Most Out of
- your Computer Floor, and you'll be at our front door. See you there! We have
- live chats every Tuesday evening at 6 PM PDT, plus more for special events like
- the upcoming National Apple User Group Symposium and Workshop (NAUGSAW), June
- 17th thru 19th in Los Angeles.
-
- ALL MAC GROUPS: Watch your mailbox in the next 30 days for a special User Group
- Connection mailing regarding eWorld. You will receive information on an eWorld
- book available to you at a special price, a few eWorld registration
- certificates, a copy of the eWorld software (and the right to copy it), and
- information on special ambassador eWorld accounts that get 2 hours free for
- four months.
-
- And stay tuned for information on the eWorld tour, hitting a number of groups
- and events this summer. If you're putting on a special event this summer, make
- sure Carmela Zamora in the User Group Connection knows about it, as she's
- wrapping up the schedule right now.
-
- WHO IS THIS, ANYWAY: I'm Raines Cohen, co-founder of BMUG (1984), BCS/Mac
- (1984), and the Newton Apple Kids (a K-12 Apple II group; 1980). I've been
- working for MacWEEK for the past 4.5 years, writing and editing about the
- computer industry. But now I've left that and I'm helping the User Group
- Connection (you know, those zany Apple-spinoff guys and gals who hang out in
- Scotts Valley) launch their eWorld forum. With your help, we can make eWorld
- the best darn place there is for User Groups. See you there, and on the tour
- this summer (or at NAUGSAW)!
-
- To reach me: Send an AppleLink to RAINES. Or better yet, get onto eWorld and
- visit the User Group Connection area; my address there is UGC Sysop. But I
- can't help get you on any quicker... just stay tuned to your mailbox.
